How to analyze a lateral cephalogram

  1. Sign in and click New Analysis to begin. Then, click Select cephalogram

  2. Select a cephalogram from your computer
For best results use higher resolution and well cropped cephalograms.

  3. Flip cephalogram
If your cephalogram is left facing, click Flip cephalogram to make it face right.

  4. Calibrate the cephalogram
Identify the ruler on the cephalogram and zoom into it by using the (‘+’) icon or by using the mouse scroller/trackpad (two-finger pinching gesture). You can move/pan the cephalogram with a long click and dragging motion.
Tip: Zooming in a LOT will help increase the accuracy of the calibration and also makes it easier to move the calibration points around better

Double-click to set two points on this ruler 10mm apart. To adjust their positions for precision, click and hold on a point, then drag with the mouse pointer or trackpad.

Once both the points are marked, select the required cephalometric analysis from the drop down menu to digitize the cephalogram and mark points.

  5. Edit landmarks and outlines
Our automatic landmark identification algorithm will mark all the landmarks and outlines. To fine tune or edit a shape (like molar or incisor, simply click once on the shape once to select and alter it for size, position and angulation. The images below shows this for the molar

To fine tune outlines and multiple shapes in one go, click on the ‘outline icon’ on the top menu

Zoom into the outline that needs to be modified and drag the blue dots to fine-tune

  6. View and save results
Once all the landmarks and outlines look perfect, click on ‘View results’ to see the analysis results.
